  • Data centers, AI, and electricity costs. How much load data centers add and what their flexibility is worth; interconnection and siting fights, and why PJM and ERCOT answer them differently; how new large-load costs get allocated among ratepayers, including in Baltimore; and how US and Chinese generation capacity shapes the technology race.
  • Building the grid: supply chains and transmission. Transformers, switchgear, and UPS systems, import dependence and recent federal actions, and why equipment shortages may bind before generation does; multi-criteria transmission expansion, dynamic line ratings and other grid-enhancing technologies, PJM and Maryland proceedings, and offshore interregional networks.
  • Markets, storage, and resource adequacy. Storage arbitrage and what operators can actually guarantee, capacity accreditation and market reform, market design under extreme events, hurricane-driven offshore wind outage risk in PJM reliability studies, and where machine learning helps planning and operations versus where its guarantees run out.
  • Reliability, extreme weather, and cybersecurity. Heat waves, storms, and outages; who is most exposed and what security margins systems are planned around; attacks through EV charging and other grid-edge devices, cyber insurance, and lessons from incidents like the Colonial Pipeline hack.
  • Energy transition and electrification. Hydrogen and electrolysis, nuclear flexibility, and industrial demand response; where EV charging gets built and who is left out; and how to read corporate clean energy commitments, from hourly versus annual matching to the transmission limits on matching policies.
